Western toad (a.k.a. boreal toad) (Bufo boreas), a blue-listed species in BC and a federal species of concern (Schedule 1 of the Species at Risk Act)
photographed directly on the geophysical trail to TransCanada Pipelines' Skeena West drill site, July 21, 2014.
The environmental assessment for the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission Project
supposedly studied impacts to breeding and overwintering habitat for this species,
but apparently paid scant attention to its other habitat needs.
Imagine... a toad living in a crusty, sun-baked cutblock.
This is nature "ground-truthing" itself.
And this is where "science," when given over to proponents and gobbled up by government, utterly fails.
Culturally modified trees just downhill from TransCanada Pipelines' Skeena West drill site, July 21, 2014.
The proposed natural gas pipeline would pass through the bedrock beneath these and other CMTs nearby.
